"Does the bath meet Sir's requirements?"
Maybe three quarters of the way through this painting, it is posing quite a few problems which I am going to highlight. These are issues of my own making, and I am sure wouldn't be a problem if I hadn't tried to create the colour scheme off the top of my head.
I'm pretty happy with the composition, and the image certainly fits the canvas size (120x100cm, or 39x47"). It's more to do with how colours which seriously pop off sit together, or does the artist have to mute because some are just too powerful?? I think it is the latter and I have been looking at diluting both chroma and also value.
It isn't easy to pick up all the nuances from the photos, and the painting really does feel much brighter and hi chroma in person. But I think it is about how to strip it back to ensure some kind of balance. It will be interesting to see how it progresses, as the final stages always have the biggest impact on a piece.
Feel free to ask questions or leave a comment and I will answer when I get a minute. Thanks DF.
